Commissioning is a methodical process by which a third party evaluates and tests building mechanical systems in existing buildings. This ensures that the systems are functioning as intended and with as much energy efficiency as possible.
The process ensures maximum functionality of the equipment and confirm correct installation. Commissioning is typically the most cost effective energy performance optimization process that building managers can implement.

Commissioning is designed to catch over-sized equipment, mis-sized valves/dampers and chillers, unnecessary components, low-quality or clogged filters, and construction debris blocking ventilation. We also look at overridden/stuck VFDs or economizers, specified equipment not installed, improper set points or control sequences, circuitous duct or piping runs, and bad or inaccurate sensors.
The outcome of the commissioning process is lower energy consumption, increased occupant comfort, lower maintenance costs, decreased liability and more effective risk management.
