Benjamin Todd, Principal

Ben has been the lead project manager performing building energy assessments ranging from small facilities to complex, large multifamily sites consisting of hundreds of apartments. As President and Senior Energy Consultant, he is involved with projects from initial project development to project implementation. This includes reviewing project savings potential, developing scope of work, developing costs estimates, estimating savings, identifying potential funding sources, creating project teams and overseeing project construction.
A former merchant marine, Ben is experienced in operating and maintaining large central power generation and pressurized steam systems, boilers, heat recovery, pumps, controls, system operation and optimization. While a Service Supervisor for Carrier Corporation, he addressed commercial and industrial facility mechanical system needs through problem investigation, project identification, feasibility studies and proposal solution and used his entrepreneurial abilities to successfully grow, manage and direct a premier service branch. In this role, he performed field inspections and system commissioning to confirm manufacturers quality of installation and led troubleshooting efforts for installing contractors.
Ben holds an engineering degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) designations by the Association of Energy Engineers, and the Multifamily Building Analyst designation from the Building Performance Institute.

Andrew Calise, Principal
LEED AP BD+C, BPI Analyst
As Managing Principal of Strategic Energy Group, Andrew provides real estate investors, developers and managers with insight into the effects of energy on the financial performance of their estate portfolios. Andrew has not only the real estate development experience but also the technical expertise and background in building science required to create strategic plans to achieve energy performance and financial goals.
While a Project Manager for a national affordable housing developer and affiliated private equity investment fund, Andrew participated in all aspects of due diligence and underwriting of potential acquisitions. As an asset manager, he optimized financial performance by developing and implementing capital upgrades and operational restructuring plans. The rising costs of energy and construction led Andrew to believe that the biggest opportunities in real estate investment lie in redevelopment and repositioning of under performing assets. He has leveraged his background to assist owners in unlocking hidden value.
Andrew maintains the Building Analyst Professional designation from the Building Performance Institute, and is a LEED AP BD+C from the US Green Building Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and is currently a co-Chair of the Young Professionals Committee of the Maine Chapter of the US Green Building Council. He is also a Board Member.

As Project Administrator, Keely assists with all aspects of energy reduction projects. This includes building energy use data collection, benchmarking and analysis, program administration, and coordination with project stakeholders. Additionally, she keeps tabs on all energy incentives, rebates, grants, loans and tax credit programs as well as benchmarking policies and ordinances. Keely has earned the Certified Measurement and Verification – IT (CMVP-IT) designation from the Association of Energy Engineers and is responsible for energy consumption measurement and verification efforts, providing valuable feedback to clients and our consulting team. Before joining Strategic Energy Group, Keely held leadership roles with community development organizations requiring close coordination with and development of strong public-private partnerships. She holds well as a bachelor’s degree from Haverford College.
